What Immipedia Is

  • Immipedia is a community project to build a comprehensive encyclopedia of Canadian immigration and visa issues. Anyone can help edit Immipedia.
  • Immipedia aims to gather together the accumulated knowledge of immigrants, support workers and consultants in the immigration field, in such a way that good information can be made available to all, for free, in an open fashion.
  • Immipedia aims to enhance the existing ecosystem of websites and discussion forums dealing with Canadian Immigration issues, by providing a central location where information can be collaboratively organised, and well written answers to often asked questions can be collected.
  • Immipedia is modeled after, and uses the same software as the highly successful Wikipedia encyclopedia.

What Immipedia Is Not

  • Immipedia is not an official site of the Canadian Government. It aims to provide useful information that supplements that made available by Citizenship and Immigration Canada on their official website, http://www.cic.gc.ca.
  • Immipedia is not legal advice. The Immipedia community believes that making information on the immigration process available will help those new to the immigration process, and also that in many situations it is possible to navigate the immigration process without the help of a paid lawyer or consultant. We strive as a community to provide accurate information, but it is still up to you to decide if you need qualified legal advice and seek it if you do.

Credits

  • Immipedia was founded in 2006 by Matthew Carroll, recognising the need for a well structured, community driven "FAQ" of Canadian immigration issues to compliment the many discussion forums and privately controlled sites out there.
  • Hosting and bandwidth is provided by Ecobytes.
