Before a foreign national becomes a Permanent Resident, three admissibility checks must be completed:

  1. Criminality
  2. Medical
  3. Background

Criminality Check

Medical Check

Applicants for permanent residence must not be a public health risk and (except for spouses, common-law partners, and dependent children) must not place an excessive demand on the Canadian health care system.
